I’ve survived being hit by a train, overdosing three times, flatlining in a hospital bed, and being stabbed by someone I once loved. But survival isn’t the same as healing. And healing isn’t easy.
Mark you are so incredibly brave for writing this and telling us all about this journey through your life. You do not need to be an accredited writer to be real, raw and honest. Your story is heartbreaking and inspirational at the same time. You give me people hope. Beautifully written and I want to post this on my actual blog and tag your substack handle in it. More people need to hear this. Thank you
now your making me tear up...It is so crazy to me that my story can inspire so much. I've wanted to write for years but now that Im waiting on disability (from getting stabbed in the lower back) i have all the time in the world to express myself. Im just honored people are reading it. i got my first paid sub today and it brings me so much validation. thank you for the support and sharing my content. i know i probably wont get rich as a writer but here's to hoping to keep the lights on until my disability kicks in
Firstly thank you for sharing your story it shows courage and strength. Please keep on with the healing and never lose sight of yourself through the pain and torment.
Hi Mark, your story is profound. I am working on a project called “Quiet Hero’s” it’s in my Substack with a Q and A. Have a read and let me know if you’re interested in the project.
It’s early doors for this project. The initiative for this comes from my own experiences (quite different to yours) of 5 years incarceration in Singapore’s Changi prison maximum security complex. I was released on 2020 and since then have written a few books. You’ll find my e mail at www.timothygoldring.com Drop me a note and I’ll send you a story board framework to look at.
